It’s no secret that the past two years have been unique and challenging to navigate as business owners, and as a society. Now that we are in 2022, we’ve been reflecting on the last year and the many good things that have happened, both with Northbound Supply Co. and ourselves as founders.
Working with friends during the hardships of 2020 and 2021 has helped us stay positive and share plenty of laughs, which we hope is clear in Northbound Supply Co.’s ethos and our products. As a team, we are very proud of our hard work and what we’ve created, especially in the last two years.
Here’s a recap of 2021 and what we’re excited about for 2022—and beyond!
Hitting a retail milestone
In the last two years, Northbound Supply Co. has hit over 75 independent retail stores in Western Canada and partnered with large retailers like Simons and Bootlegger. In keeping with our brand’s Canadian origin story, we’re proud to be in many mom-and-pop stores in small towns across the country.
You can read about these quintessentially Canadian businesses and locations on our new blog each month! Stay tuned for those profiles.
We hired our first team member
One of the most exciting parts of seeing your business grow is watching your team expand. Last year, Northbound Supply Co. hired our first new team member—co-founder Justin Peikert’s sister Stephanie—and we’re thrilled to have her on board as we pursue exciting new milestones in 2022.
We expanded our product line
We were thrilled to add a new line of products to our roster last year, including women’s wear (crop tops, boyfriend tees, muscle tank tops and more), and an expanded headwear collection.
Our new knit Beanies and Vintage Trucker Hats are long-awaited additions to our collection and the perfect wardrobe staples year-round. Don’t miss the detailed patch designs!
Being in the clothing business also involves exploring new printing techniques, and in 2021, we introduced Puff Printing and Flocking for our upcoming collections (we’ll share how cool these are on our blog very soon).
We’re always eager to create new products our customers will love, so stay tuned for more in 2022! Hint: We’re currently working on the development of men’s and women’s flannel shirts.
We experienced the Canadian outdoors
Enjoying Canada’s natural beauty is always a must for Team Northbound. This past holiday season, we hit the slopes in Cypress Mountain for a product photoshoot—and a bit of snowboarding and skiing of course—at Cypress Sky Resort.
Our team handled challenges together
The pandemic brought numerous challenges for all of us. Like many businesses, we’ve had to deal with issues like shipping delays and order cancellations from stores that had to close.
But the upside of starting in such a rough time was that it forced us to explore Canada’s beauty and our own backyard, from the snow-covered hills to grass-filled mountains and the beautiful lakes and oceans. No matter what the new year has in store, we’re bringing this positive mindset into 2022.
In the near future, Northbound Supply Co. plans on attending more expos to meet our customers face to face, so we can keep creating clothes we are proud of and that you will love.
Thank you for all your support! Here’s to an amazing new year.
