Located in the Canadian Rockies and situated alongside Lake Windermere, the cozy and charming town of Invermere, BC offers the perfect escape to pause and experience life, from relaxing on the lake, enjoying a thrilling summer triathlon, hitting the slopes, or visiting the many local businesses downtown.

Inside Edge is a boutique that encompasses some of the best of Invermere’s laid back, outdoorsy vibe. Founded in 1998, it began in owner Cheryl Maybuck’s home and was originally just a store for hockey goods.

The shop soon became a local hotspot, expanding its lineup of products beyond sporting goods. Currently, they also sell men’s and women’s clothing, footwear, and even sharpen skates.

“As the demand for items beyond our hockey goods increased, we eventually bought an old car dealership downtown and converted it into a store in 5 days,” says Cheryl, “Currently, the shop is divided into two, one side for sporting goods and the other for the boutique.”

Invermere is a small but popular tourist town. “Almost like a mini Banff!” says Cheryl. Plenty of Albertans have a second home in Invermere, and the town receives around 80,000 visitors in the summer. It’s no surprise, given it’s a world-class mountain biking and ski destination, hosts numerous races and triathlons in the summertime, and offers a variety of lake activities.

Once you’re in town, there are plenty of local spots to grab a tasty bite, refreshing beverage or baked treat. Visit the Station Pub for great views and friendly vibes, Cafe Allium for tasty dishes made with locally-sourced ingredients, or drop by Effusion Art Gallery to view or purchase beautiful local art and glassware.

Don’t forget to visit their famous farmer’s market, which runs from May to September. For some extra adventure, try the Lake Windermere Whiteway, which holds a Guinness World Record for the longest groomed skating trail on a lake in the world.

When Inside Edge reopened after the first COVID lockdown on the May 2020 long weekend, Cheryl says everyone felt eager and excited to walk back into a physical store again.

“Many of our customers and friends are regulars from Alberta on a first-name basis with us, and things were tough at first. But when things slowly opened up again, it felt great to welcome people back!”

We’re proud to have Northbound Supply Co. be a part of a great local business and community that truly encompasses the laid-back, nature-loving spirit of Canada.

“Northbound Supply Co. fits great with both our athletic and our boutique sections, especially since we are an outdoorsy town,” says Cheryl, “Guests come to our store to find pieces that are unique, and Northbound definitely offers a range of unique styles that match our store!”

What are you waiting for? Whether you’re a local visitor driving up for a summer weekend, or a tourist from across the country, Invermere has everything you need for the perfect Canadian vacation.
