Incorporated as a city in 1904, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan is home to lively shops and a family-oriented, community atmosphere. It is located on the south shore of the North Saskatchewan River and is considered Saskatchewan's "Gateway to the North," with the open prairie lying to the south of the city and many forests and lakes to the north of it.

Prince Albert is also home to One 40 Seven, a local women’s clothing boutique—and one of Northbound Supply Co.’s retailers—that has been in business for 20 years. Founder Terina Kwiatkowski has always been an avid shopper with a passion for fashion.

“We opened One 40 Seven in 2002, and it just seemed like a dream,” she says, adding that she loves seeing customers discover new outfits and pieces they love. “One 40 Seven has something for all women, no matter your style or budget.”

At the time, the city didn’t have many great clothing stores. Wanting to provide a fresh new spot for her family and friends to find great new styles, Terina decided to take the leap and create one herself, and One 40 Seven was eventually born.

Prince Albert itself isn’t a large or touristy town, but it has a tight-knit, familial atmosphere that makes it perfect for a shop like Terina’s, where customers are mostly

local. As the “Gateway to the North,” visitors typically pass through the town from the northern lakes.

If you’re in the area, grab a hearty meal from Original Joe’s or a tasty London Fog from Doctor Java’s. For some fresh air and scenery, take the family to Little Red River Park, open year-round and offering serene trails for bikers, hikers and skiers, depending on the season.

As a family-oriented community, Terina says the locals banded together to support the local shops when COVID first hit.

“We had people who just wanted to support us and keep us alive,” she says, “We initially had to close like everyone else, but we took orders online. In fact, our customers actually grew because of all the online orders we received.” The local love for One 40 Seven is still going strong, with a regular customer base spanning multiple generations.

When it comes to having Northbound Supply Co. in the shop, Terina says she loves the vibe of the brand. “Everyone just loves T-shirts and hoodies,” she says, “Northbound Supply Co. is just really unique and versatile to style with other pieces, and it actually fits really well with our city being the Gateway to the North!”
