There’s no better time to give your wardrobe a refresh than summer, and we’ve got the perfect spot. Beach Chik is a clothing and lifestyle boutique in Sicamous, BC that has all your favourite must-haves for the season.
The shop has been a Sicamous staple for 15 years and carries both big-name and local brands. It’s also hard to miss! The spacious—and stylish—shop is located on Sicamous’ Main Street and is more than just your average retail store.
“We have a VIP area outside with a 15 square-foot open-air deck where people can enjoy cocktails.” says owner Jody Boychuck, “Sicamous is a seasonal town, so we open in May and close after the September long weekend. It feels a lot like the Calgary Stampede here in the summer.”
Pay a visit to this fun, summery town and you’ll definitely feel like you’re on holiday.
Sicamous is known as the ‘Houseboat Capital of Canada’. Located in the Shuswap area between Mara Lake and Shuswap Lake, you can expect to find just about 200 houseboats rented out annually.
Like so many other great Canadian cities, it’s the perfect summer getaway, offering activities like wake-surfing, camping, water sports, golfing and hiking. It also has a very laid-back vibe. Of course, there’s more to do here than just nature sports.
Being a seasonal touristy town, Sicamous offers unique events in the summertime for visitors to look forward to. Sicamous Fest hosts an impressive fireworks show for Canada Day, and there is also a great farmer’s market to visit.
Once you’re in town, drop by The Narrows Smokehouse to enjoy slow-cooked BBQ dishes made in-house, and don’t miss Shark Shack, a floating bar and restaurant on Shuswap Lake.
“We have a really special relationship with our customers,” says Jody, “We know most of them on a first-name basis and have even watched their kids grow up. I think what keeps the beauty and charm of this place alive is that overall, it hasn’t changed very much!”
Jody adds that one of the best things about Sicamous is how it truly feels like a happy place. Generations of families visit every summer, spending time on the lakes, coming back each year for camp and to see old friends, and overall to just relax and unwind from the busy year. It’s this tranquil, laid-back atmosphere that makes us proud to be a part of the Beach Chik community.
“We love working with Canadian businesses at Beach Chik,” says Jody, “Northbound Supply Co. is a favourite in the shop because it just goes with everything in the store! It also really carries that Canadian spirit, being in stores across the country.”
If you’re looking for your next summer getaway, definitely check out the fun, beautiful town of Sicamous. Don’t forget to drop by Beach Chik for some great summer shopping, and to say hello to Chip the Pug!
