Northbound Supply Co. is fortunate enough to be in stores across the country. On our blog, we want to share the stories of these amazing communities and local businesses.
Today, we’re taking you to the cozy town of Olds, Alberta, home of charming coffee shops and bakeries, Instagram-worthy murals, and the stylish clothing boutique Gotcha Jeans, the perfect spot to find your next favourite outfit.
Gotcha Jeans has been a family-owned and operated business since 1991 and is owned by Mike Fix, a bike enthusiast, owner of his dog Skittles, and a proud member and supporter of Uptowne Olds.
Along with carrying big-name brands like Vans, Volcom and RVCA, Gotcha Jeans has styles for any occasion, whether you need to bundle up on a chilly winter day or pack the next best look for a summer getaway.
The 50th Avenue and Main Street area of Olds—where Gotcha Jeans is located— is packed with history, home to unique local stores that are over 100 years old. In true Canadian spirit, all the neighbourhood store owners regularly get together to host events for the community.
The original building of Gotcha Jeans was constructed in 1893 and used to be a general store. In 1922, the store was run by W.J Brumpton and was destroyed by a fire. Eventually, Jack Kemp rebuilt the destroyed building in 1928, providing retail and office space for several local businesses.
Jack Kemp was also an early member of the Elks Lodge, whose meetings were hosted on the second floor for 22 years. He was an avid curler and became a life member of the Olds Curling Club in 1962. The architectural design of the building—both inside and out—and its articulated sign bank, are features from its original construction in the 1920s.
Today, the town is bustling with activity and local community spirit. If it’s coffee and local hangout spots you’re after, you’ll be spoiled for choice. Get your caffeine fix at Bean Brokers before heading to Olds Town Square for shopping, a relaxing Yoga session (topped with refreshing kombucha!) and some pampering at their hair salon.
The Cocoa Tree Bake Shoppe has all the sweet treats you could ask for, no matter the season, with their cupcakes and decorative cookies being a definite favourite. Locals love to grab their coffee and treats to go, and take a walk in the forest near Deer Ridge Estates or by the murals at Olds Town Square, for some fresh air and photography.
We asked the Gotcha Jeans team what they love about having Northbound Supply Co. in their store. They told us it has made their shop even more diverse in the styles they can bring to their growing community, and they love that our brand offers something unique for everyone!
What are you waiting for? If you’re in the neighbourhood and eager to do a bit of shopping, why not pay the charming town of Olds a visit and pick up some Northbound Supply Co.?
